Bathroom
Improvements
A
reminder that at the end of August we will be having the children’s bathroom
refurbished which will take 1 – 2 weeks. During this time we will be having
full working luxury portable loo’s in our garden. We have chosen the end of
August as this is the quietest time for the nursery and we are using the bank
holiday weekend to minimise nursery time. If you do have any questions about
this please do not hesitate to ask.
Sammy’s

In
September Sammy will be completing a charity skydive to help raise money for
the British Heart Foundation in memory of Megan’s mum. The target to reach is
£500 so if you would like to read Sammy’s story or donate please visit the link

Thank
you in advance for all your help and support. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/sammyrogers.

In this week’s in2 sports the children practiced their rugby skills by
throwing and catching rugby balls. They then had fun taking part in group
racing games.
Forest School – During this week’s Forest School it was the first Friday session
for the new group. Owen went over the Golden Rules and let the children explore
their environment. They then found their own resources to create their very own
stick man!
Nature Club –
This week in Nature Club the children searched for blackberries in the
woods. They then collected sticks and mud and created their own mud pictures.
Next weeks activities:
Each key person will be responsible for
designing an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all
children who are in on that day will have the opportunity to access the
activity too.
If the key person is on holiday or off,
another staff member will be able to lead the activity in their place so that
the children do not miss out.

Our Policy of the Week:
Lost/missing
child policy
Aim
of the policy
To give clear guidelines on what to do should
a child go missing or become lost.
Points to consider
The Childcare and Learning Group recognise
the responsibility it has when caring for children throughout the day.
This includes children within the setting and children who are taken out for
visits into the community.
We recognise there are a number of situations
where a child could become lost and these are:
·
Where a child wanders off on an outing
·
Where a child escapes from the outside area
·
Where a child is taken from the Setting by an
unapproved adult
·
Where a child is lost within the Setting
The Childcare and Learning
Group aim to do this by:
·
Alerting the member of staff in charge
immediately, if the child is on an outing you must also contact the setting.
They will make enquiries of the relevant members of staff as to when the child
was last seen and where.
·
Remember the safety of the other children,
with regard to supervision and security.
·
Ensure the remaining children are
sufficiently supervised and secure, one or preferably two members of staff
should then search the building/ outside area straight away.
·
If the child cannot be found within five
minutes then the police and parents must be informed. The operational
team must also be informed at this time.
·
Continue to search, opening up the area, keep
in touch by mobile phone.
·
When the situation has been resolved members
of staff should review the reasons for it happening, complete a risk assessment
and ensure measures are taken to ensure it does not happen again.
·
A full and detailed report must be made to
the Setting Manager and a copy sent to the Operations Manager and Ofsted.
Kind Regards,
Jess, Jamie and the South Hill Team
