Dear
Parents and Carers,
Nursery News:
Christmas
Party
The
Christmas party is next Friday (4th). For children who are not
normally at nursery on Fridays, parents are very welcome to bring them in,
however you will need to stay with them. The party is from 3.30 to
5pm. Father Christmas will be visiting Babies at 3.50, Bluebells at 4.10
and Sunflowers at 4.30. Parents of children already at nursery next
Friday are very welcome to join us too!
Nativity and Carol Service
A reminder that you can sign up to this year’s
nativity and carol service in the rooms. Buttercups and Bluebells will be
holding two carol services on Monday 11th December at 3.00 and 4.30.
Unfortunately there are only tickets left for the early performance of the
carol service at 3.00. The 4.30 is currently full, if this changes we will let
you know. The Sunflowers 4.15 nativity is also full, so there are currently
just seats left for the 9.45 performance. There is a waiting list for extra
tickets but this will be on a first come first served basis and depend on the
availability at the early performances for both events. Any questions please
see Becci or Sammy.

Our Policy of the Week:
Nappy changing procedure
Aim of policy
To demonstrate how to
change a nappy to the highest standard.
Points to consider
Never leave a child unattended on a high level nappy changing unit
Make sure you have
everything ready and to hand before you start.
You will need:
·
Baby wipes if used or cotton wool, bowl and warm water
·
Clean nappy
·
Nappy sack if used
·
Spare clothes if needed
·
Barrier cream if required
·
Disposable gloves
·
Apron
1.
Wash your hands.
2.
Put on apron and always wear disposable gloves for each change.
3.
Use a layer of blue roll. This is so
the child is not on a damp change mat and helps prevent cross contamination.
3.
Place baby on changing mat. - You must never leave a child unattended
on a changing unit.
4.
Remove nappy and gently wipe away soiling with wipes/cotton wool and water.
5.
Clean baby’s bottom with wipes/cotton wool and water. Girl’s bottoms
should be wiped from front to back.
6.
Put on clean nappy and change clothing if required.
7.
Roll dirty nappy up, ready for disposal.
8.
Dispose of nappy, wipes, gloves according to the setting system.
9.
Wash your hands thoroughly.
10.
Wipe over mat with a D10 spray, leaving the spray for 15 seconds.
11.
Check under mat and wipe area if needed.
12.
Remove apron after each change and discard.
13.
The last thing you should do before leaving the change area is wash your hands.
Leave area clean, tidy and disinfected for next change
Nappy change time should be
a caring and sociable time. Make sure you engage with the child as you change
them. Nappy change time is also a time for bonding with the child and should be
seen as a fun experience for both the practitioner and child.
Hands
are to be thoroughly washed and dried after and between each nappy change.
Where there is no running water available at the nappy changing station, hands
must be sterilised between each change, a fresh pair of gloves between each
change and then hands thoroughly washed with soap and water at the nearest sink
after the nappy round.
Where
a team member has severe sensitivity to gloves, soap and disinfectants a care
plan needs to be set with specific arrangements with them to ensure they can
carry out the procedure hygienically.
The
nappy changing area must be left completely clear and clean after use with all
items used stored appropriately. The disinfectant spray bottle used for the
bathroom areas must only be used in the bathrooms and not transferred to other
areas for use.
Kind
Regards,
Jess, Jamie and the South Hill Team
