Dear
Parents and Carers,
Nursery News:

News
As you all know Jamie from our Markenfield Nursery
will be moving over to us and taking on the Deputy role here. Jamie will be
working with us one day a week for the next few weeks to get to know the
setting and children and will move over to us permanently on the 18th
December. The team will introduce you to Jamie over the next month. Jamie will
be overseeing all rooms, however will be in the baby room on Monday and
Tuesday’s, supporting the 2- 3 room on Donna’s day off on a Friday and will
support all rooms on a Thursday. Her day off will be Wednesdays.
While Jamie is in her Deputy training period I will
be working 7.30 – 4.00 Monday – Friday, if you need anything outside of these
times please speak to you room’s Room Leader.
Additionally, Megan will be starting back on the 4th
December working Monday, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Due to our increase in numbers we have recently
employed a new member of Staff, Hannah. She will be supporting all rooms during
her training and we will introduce her to you when she starts. Hannah starts
with us next week.
If you have any questions about the change, please
do let me know.
Children
in Need
A
big thank you to all who donated towards this year’s Children in Need. We
raised a massive £313.43 to such a great cause.
A
big well done to Alba’s family for guessing 12 out of 14 of the baby photos
right. Well done to Autumn, Wilf and Imogen for winning the colouring in
competition in their rooms.
Nativity and Carol Service
A reminder that you can sign up to this year’s
nativity and carol service in the rooms. Buttercups and Bluebells will be
holding two carol services on Monday 11th December at 3.00 and 4.30.
Unfortunately there is only tickets left for the early performance of the carol
service at 3.00. The 4.30 is currently full, if this changes we will let you
know. The Sunflowers 4.15 nativity is also full, so there is currently just
seats left for the 9.45 performance. There is a waiting list for extra tickets
but this will be on a first come first served basis and depend on the
availability at the early performances. Any questions please see Becci or
Sammy.
Christmas Parties
This year due to Father Christmas’s busy schedule,
we will be holding our Christmas parties from 3.00 – 4.45. Father Christmas
will be with us from 3.00 – 4.00. He will be visiting babies at 3.00, Bluebells
at 3.15 and Pre-school at 3.35. We will also be having party games and a party
tea.

Todays Forest School the children had an awesome time supporting Ines making a
reindeer out of wood. They then helped Lee put little bits of wood into an old
tree, where they had fun climbing up it like a climbing wall.
In
2 Sports –
This week at sports the children have been learning Rugby. They were taught how
to hold, catch and throw the ball. They had a fun game of running around the
garden holding the ball (giving it a cuddle), then when Coach Pasha said ‘Try’,
the children had to find a cone to place the Rugby ball.
French
– In
French this week we have been learning about the colour rouge and playing
colours and emotions memory games. We have been exploring all of the different
emotions and reading a story.
Theatrebugs

Next weeks activities:
Each key person will be responsible for designing
an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all children who are
in on that day will have the opportunity to access the activity too.
If the key person is on holiday or off, another
staff member will be able to lead the activity in their place so that the
children do not miss out.

Our Policy of the Week:
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) policy
Aim of policy
To give guidance in caring
for sleeping babies.
Points to consider
The safety and care of all
children attending Childcare and Learning Group is paramount.
The care of very young
babies is especially important and we follow the Department of Health
Guidelines when placing babies down to rest or sleep.
Procedures to follow
• When putting babies down to
sleep/rest always place the baby on their back, unless requested otherwise by
parents. Parents must provide a written request of alternate arrangements.
• The baby will be placed
with its feet close to the bottom of the cot.
• Room temperature will be
kept between 16-21 degrees Celsius.
• Quilts, pillows and cot
bumpers will not be used. Only blankets, sheets or baby sleeping bags
will be used.
• Blankets or sheets must be
placed loosely over the baby’s body.
• Children will be checked
every 10 minutes and will include a temperature and breathing check with the
minimum of disturbance to the child.
Kind
Regards,
Jess, Charlotte and the South Hill
Team
