Each key person will be responsible for designing
an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all children who are
in on that day will have the opportunity to access the activity too.
If the key person is on holiday or off, another

Our Policy of the Week:
Social contact policy
Aim of policy
To give guidance to both
staff members and parents/carers to appropriate social contact outside of the
setting.
Points to consider
This policy works with the
Parents as Partners policy and Confidentiality policy.
Childcare and Learning Group aims to achieve this by:
The Childcare and Learning
Group understand they may be social occasions outside of the setting where
parents come into contact with staff members. We want our staff to form bonds
with the children’s families however professional boundaries need to be drawn
in order to maintain these bonds appropriately.
We would ask all staff and
parents to not make links on social networking sites, such as requesting
“friendships” on Facebook. This is to protect confidentiality, professional
boundaries and to keep our staff and clients safe from unintentional slippage
of information and misinterpretation which could have consequences for the
staff/ client relationship and future professional partnership.
Whilst Childcare and
Learning Group do not facilitate babysitting, we do understand that it may
occur. We would ask all parents and staff not to discuss the setting life (even
regarding their own child) outside of the setting times. This can create
awkward situations and problems that may affect the parents/staff bond.
There may be other
occasions where the staff meet the parents/ carers outside of the setting again
we ask all parents and staff not to discuss the setting life (even regarding
their own child) outside of the setting times.
The setting is happy to
arrange a time for the parent/carer to discuss their child within the setting
time.
Kind
Regards,
Jess, Jamie and the South Hill Team
