great afternoon and all the children had a fabulous time!

Parent’s
Evening
Date
for your diary, parents evening is Thursday 8th September.
Pop
in anytime between 6.30-8.30, to chat to your child’s key person.
The
Pre-School team will be completing a ‘Going to School’ presentation at 6.30pm
to let you know what we do in the Pre-School to get your child ready and
excited for school.
You
can also have a look at the next room if your child is due to move up and have
the chance to talk to other parents.

This week’s activities
Each key person will be responsible for designing
an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all children who are
in on that day will have the opportunity to access the activity too.
If the key person is on holiday or off, another
staff member will be able to lead the activity in their place so that the
children do not miss out.

Buttercups
Monday – Charlotte’s group are playing a ‘What’s
under the basket game?’ developing early vocabulary
Tuesday – Charlotte’s group will be sharing our
story sacks together supporting an interest in books and stories
Wednesday – Shula’s group are exploring paint and
colour while painting in the garden on a large sheet of paper
Thursday – Mel’s group will be investigating the
number puzzles raising the children’s awareness of numbers
Friday – Mel’s group are discovering playdough to
see the different shapes they can make encouraging motor skills
Charlotte is off Friday, Mel is off Tuesday, Nilem
is off Monday and Shula is in all week.
Bluebells
Monday – Donna’s group will be turn taking in small
groups while reading stories
Tuesday – Chloe’s group are playing bowling games
in the garden building motor skills and counting skills
Wednesday – Almu’s group is developing an awareness
of the world while watering our plants in the garden
Thursday – Donna’s group are exploring media while
using paint sticks to encourage the children to create their own art work
Friday – Megan’s group is making fruit ice lollies
with their friends encouraging language skills
Donna is off Friday, Almu and Megan are in all week
and Chloe is on holiday all week.
Sunflowers
The Sunflowers have one detailed weekly focused
activity to ensure all the children have the opportunity to take part in it.
This will work alongside their weekly planned
activity list which you can see in the room and on the ILD’S.
This week’s activity is: learning about the weather
and how it affects us and our environment
This week the children will be developing their
understanding and knowledge of the affect that different weather conditions
have on the environment. The children will be in small groups and will talk
about the different weather conditions they know. They will be encouraged to
express how they feel when it is hot and cold. The activity will be extended
and the children will go outside and do a little activity that gets them
moving, the children will then be supported to talk about how they feel before
and after.

Nappy changing procedure
Aim
of policy
To demonstrate how to change a nappy to the highest standard.
Points
to consider
Never
leave a child unattended on a high level nappy changing unit
Make
sure you have everything ready and to hand before you start.
You
will need:
Baby
wipes if used or cotton wool, bowl and warm water
Clean
nappy
Nappy
sack if used
Spare
clothes if needed
Barrier
cream if required
Disposable
gloves
Apron
- Wash your hands.
- Put on apron and always wear disposable gloves for each change.
- Place baby on changing mat. - You must never leave a child unattended on a changing unit.
- Remove nappy and gently wipe away soiling with wipes/cotton wool and water.
- Clean baby’s bottom with wipes/cotton wool and water. Girl’s bottoms should be wiped from front to back.
- Put on clean nappy and change clothing if required.
- Roll dirty nappy up, ready for disposal.
- Dispose of nappy, wipes, gloves according to nursery system.
- Wash your hands thoroughly.
- Wipe over mat with diluted disinfectant spray.
- Check under mat and wipe area if needed.
- Remove apron/tabard and discard.
- The last thing you should do before leaving the change area is wash your hands.Nappy change time should be a caring and sociable time. Make sure you engage with the child as you change them. Nappy change time is also a time for bonding with the child and should be seen as a fun experience for both the practitioner and child.
