This weeks activities and events

In 2 Sports – This week during in2 sport the children warmed up playing group games in a circle. They then continued practicing their Rugby skills, the Coach was throwing the ball to all the children and they would catch the ball and pass it back.

French –  During French this week the children have been focusing on their body parts. They sang ‘Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes’ in French building their confidence in finding their body parts in French. We then had a fun game where we had to bandage up a teddy bear following instructions of which body part was poorly!

Forest School – At Forest School on Tuesday a new group went, they learnt all about the Forest School Golden rules. They then searched the Forest looking for signs of spring, they noticed birds singing and nests in the tree, they also spotted some bluebell flowers coming through. The children finished off by making a den.

Next weeks activities:

Each key person will be responsible for designing an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all children who are in on that day will have the opportunity to access the activity too.

If the key person is on holiday or off, another staff member will be able to lead the activity in their place so that the children do not miss out.

Our Policy of the Week

Babysitting policy

Aim of Policy

This policy aims to give guidance to staff and parents/carers on babysitting.

Points to consider

This policy works alongside the social contact policy and confidentiality policy.

Babysitting is an unregulated service and the setting has no liability for any private arrangement made between parents and staff.

Childcare and Learning Group aim to achieve this by:

Whilst we understand that parents may want care out of the settings hours, this is not something that the setting provides.

The setting will not arrange or facilitate babysitting arrangements for families.

However the setting understands that parents feel more comfortable with people they and their child/ren already know.

Parents can approach staff to arrange babysitting outside of their working hours. Staff are not obligated to babysit.

Any babysitting arrangements are private arrangements and the setting is not responsible for any injury, accident or any damages that occur during or because of a babysitting situation.

Staff are reminded that they should not allow other jobs to affect their role at the setting and that they should allow enough rest time before coming back to the setting.

Parents are advised to do their own checks on babysitters, whether they are staff members or not. Advice on choosing a babysitter can be found at:

If staff do choose to babysit, it is important to remember to follow the social contact policy and confidentiality policy at all times.

Kind Regards,

Jess, Jamie and the South Hill Team
