Dear Parents and Carers,
Nursery News:
Staff
News
We
have now found the right candidate for our pre-school position and Eva will be
joining us at the end of August. She has her level 4 qualification and looking
forward to a new role. We will make sure you all get introduced to her next
month.
Maria
in the bluebell room is moving on at the end of August, she is off to work in a
special needs school, I am sure you join us in wishing her all the best. We
have already found Maria’s replacement, Irene will be joining us in September,
she has been working in another local nursery and will be coming on board to
share her knowledge and experience.
If
you have any questions about the staff changes please do not hesitate to ask.
Missing
hats
Please
can I ask you all to check at home and in nursery bags for two missing GAP
caps, one blue and one red. Then also a missing shark bucket hat. Please do let
us know if you have any of these items so we can let the family they belong to
know.
Also
please can we remind you to label all hats and clothes as a lot of children
have the same items. This makes it a lot easier to home missing/ lost items if
they are all labelled. Thank you for your co-operation.
This weeks activities and events
In2 Sports –
During in2 sports this week we warmed up by moving in different
directions; forwards, sideways and backwards. We then practiced our hand eye
co-ordination by aiming and throwing balls into small cones.
Forest School – This week during Forest school the children read the ‘Stick Man’
story then created their own stick man out of twigs and string.
Nature Club –
It was the new groups turn for Nature club in the 2 – 3 room, so they
spent time exploring their new environment and manoeuvring up and down the hills.
Next weeks activities:
Each key person will be responsible for
designing an activity based on their key children’s needs; however, all
children who are in on that day will have the opportunity to access the
activity too.
If the key person is on holiday or off,
another staff member will be able to lead the activity in their place so that
the children do not miss out.

Our Policy of the Week:
Anti-bullying
policy
Aim of the policy
To give guidance to Practitioners and parents
as how we, at the Childcare and Learning Group deal with incidents of bullying
between children.
Points to consider
Bullying is not acceptable at the Childcare
and Learning Group. Practitioners will respond appropriately and promptly to
any form of bullying through its behaviour management policies and according to
the child’s needs and stage of development. Parents/ carers will be consulted
and setting practitioners will work with parents/carers to manage this
behaviour, if necessary the setting will endeavour to seek further guidance
from an outside agency.
Bullying is a deliberate action or words that
hurt, frighten, threaten or intimidate another person.
Bullying can include:
·
Physically hurting someone
·
Threatening, name calling, teasing
·
Damage to someone else’s property
·
Ignoring or excluding someone.
Childcare and Learning
Group aim to achieve this by:
·
The setting will put measures in place to
support a child who is being bullied and to manage the bullying.
·
Time will be made for parent/carers of both
parties to talk with relevant setting practitioners to explore what is
happening for their child and how the setting and parent/carer can support the
child together.
·
Bullying will be monitored through written
observation for the parents/carers, to reassure them that progress is being
made.
·
Looking at how the setting is set out and
setting practitioners are positioned so that the child does not find themselves
in a vulnerable situation.
·
Discussing appropriate behaviour through
group time.
·
Using praise, positive reinforcement and
encouraging acceptable social behaviour.
·
The setting will follow its behaviour
management procedure to manage the child’s unacceptable behaviour.
·
Unacceptable behaviour is monitored through
written observation and reviewed with the parents/carer on a regular basis.
Kind Regards,
Jess, Jamie and the South Hill Team
